Connect and Go: Building friendships and making plans doesn’t have to feel confusing or overwhelming. Join Main Street and the Arc of Northern Virginia’s multi-part series designed to help Main Street members meet new people, build confidence, and turn ideas into real world experiences.

 

Across four interactive online sessions, participants will learn how to plan outings, exchange information, make and organize plans, and adapt to changes when things don’t go as expected. Each session focuses on practical, real-life skills.

 

The series contains two planned outings, giving participants the chance to put their skills into action, plan their own trip, and enjoy an adventure together. Come to one session or join them all, meet members, and enjoy time together. 

 

This week we will be traveling by bus to The RIO Lakefront

 

Here are some important facts to know before you register:

 

• We will be taking the Montgomery County Ride On bus system to the park. There will be no additional fee for travel. 

 

• We will be heading over the metro promptly at 10 am. Please arrive at The Bean Bag at Main Street  by 9:50 am to connect with the group. 

 

• We will be having lunch at Potbelly's Sandwich Shop. Attendees are responsible for purchasing their own lunch. 

 

• Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather, and bring support, as needed. We will be walking/ rolling to Rockville Metro Station using the pedestrian overpass located across the street from Main Street (about 500 feet, door to door) and will be walking/ rolling around the lake and in stores once we arrive. 

 

• The trip will take place rain or shine. If there is inclement weather we will spend more time in the stores than around the lake. 

 

• Support staff is welcome to attend. They do not need to be registered, but please indicate that you are bringing support when you register. 

 

• The timeline for the trip is as follows:

  • 9:50 am: Gather in The Bean Bag Cafe at Main Street to meet The Arc of Northern Virginia staff, review the trip, and get travel information

  • 10:00 am: Begin walking over to the Metro.

  • 11:00 am: Arrive at the RIO

  • 1:30 pm: Return on bus to Rockville Metro station

  • 1:45 pm: Arrive at Main Street
