Connect and Go: Building friendships and making plans doesn’t have to feel confusing or overwhelming. Join Main Street and the Arc of Northern Virginia’s multi-part series designed to help Main Street members meet new people, build confidence, and turn ideas into real world experiences.

 

Across four interactive online sessions, participants will learn how to plan outings, exchange information, make and organize plans, and adapt to changes when things don’t go as expected. Each session focuses on practical, real-life skills.

 

The series contains two planned outings, giving participants the chance to put their skills into action, plan their own trip, and enjoy an adventure together. Come to one session or join them all, meet members, and enjoy time together. 

 

This week we will be traveling by bus to Croyden Creek Nature Center in Rockville! 

 

Here are some important facts to know before you register:

 

• We will be taking the Montgomery County Ride On bus system to the park. There will be no additional fee for travel. 

 

• We will be stopping to picnic during our walk/ roll, so participants should bring a bagged lunch. Come early and purchase something at The Bean Bag at Main Street if you like! 

 

• Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather, and bring support, as needed. We will be walking/ rolling to Rockville Metro Station using the pedestrian overpass located across the street from Main Street (about 500 feet, door to door) and participating in an outdoor walk/roll and picnic on the grounds of the nature center.  

 

• The trip will take place rain or shine. If there is inclement weather, we will be spending time in the nature center rather than on the trail or on the grounds. 

 

• Support staff is welcome but must be registered as a separate attendee during the member registration process. 

 

• The timeline for the trip is as follows:

  • 11:45 am: Gather in The Bean Bag Cafe at Main Street to meet The Arc of Northern Virginia staff, review the trip, and get travel information

  • 12:00 pm: Begin walking over to the Metro.

  • 12:45 pm: Arrive at Croyden Creek Nature Center

  • 2:45 pm: Return on bus to Rockville Metro station

  • 3:15 pm: Arrive at Main Street

 

Lunch will not be provided on this trip but we invite you to come to The Bean Bag at Main Street early and order lunch to bring with you before we leave. If you are interested in ordering lunch at the Bean Bag make sure to arrive by no later than 11:30 am so you have time to order and get your meal wrapped up before we leave.
