Main Street is partnering with The Arc of Northern Virginia to host a fun and informative Metro trip to the KID Museum at Bethesda Metro Center!  You will have a chance to spend an afternoon exploring, seeing new sights and checking out hands-on science and technology exhibits. 

 

This is a great opportunity to practice your Metro travel skills, learn more about the KID museum and ways that you can volunteer there, and spend a fun afternoon with friends! 

 

Here are some important facts to know before you register:

• KID museum has many volunteer opportunities, and Main Street is working with The Arc of Northern Virginia and the KID museum to help members who are interested in volunteering be prepared for the application and volunteering process. This trip is an opportunity to learn more about volunteering at KID museum, but it is open to anyone who would like the opportunity to visit the museum and practice their Metro travel skills, whether or not you are interested in volunteering in the future. If you are interested in volunteering but cannot attend this trip, please continue to check your Monday Member Email for updates and additional information on training opportunities.

 

• Arc of Northern Virginia is providing all of the Metro cards for participants. There is no additional fee for Metro travel. 

 

• Please wear comfortable shoes and bring support, as needed. We will be walking to Rockville Metro Station using the pedestrian overpass located across the street from Main Street (about 500 feet, door to door)  and participating in an hour long walking tour of the KID museum when we arrive. 

 

• Support staff is welcome but must be registered as a separate attendee during the member registration process. 

 

• The timeline for the trip is as follows:

  • 11:45 AM: Gather in the Soulfull Cafe at Main Street to meet The Arc of Northern Virginia staff, review the trip, and get Metro cards.

  • 12:00 PM: Begin walking over to the Metro.

  • 1:00 PM: Arrive at KID Museum for the tour.

  • 2:00 PM: Tour ends.

  • 3:00 PM: Travel on Metro to return to Main Street.

 

Lunch will not be provided on this trip but we invite you to come to Soulfull Cafe early and order lunch to eat as a group before we leave! If you are interested in ordering lunch at Soulfull, make sure to arrive by no later than 11:15 AM so you have time to order and eat before we leave for the Metro.
